Just a bit of history in an effort to help along a good cause…

The Amityville Woman’s Club, Inc. was organized in 1927.  The purpose of the organization as stated in the official “green book” is as follows –

Its purpose shall be to associate the members, to promote the cultural development of such members, and to increase their capacity for useful activity as citizens in the community.

The Junior League of Amityville is responsible for hosting the famous “Amityville Holiday Homes Tour” which opened up some of the spectacular homes in our bay side community to the public the first Saturday in December.  The women of the Junior League put countless hours and planning into these events and the proceeds of the tour are given as scholarships or are disbursed to various charities.

With the state of the economy most households have become two income households and the membership has dwindled for various reasons.  This year the current board members of the Junior League are hosting a fundraiser in lieu of a Holiday Homes Tour due to the decrease in membership.  If you follow the link to the social below it will provide all of the information you require if you wish to attend or perhaps donate.  Many would like to see the time-honored tradition of the Holiday Homes Tour continue.  Please support the cause in any way you can…the proceeds this year are being given back to our own community hit hard by the recent hurricane.  The monies raised will be used to help rehabilitate the beach playground.

As always, every little bit counts!
